A true timed stage race for 6 categories of Women; All stages
as in 2008
Registration: 11:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m.. at the
TT start location Friday 5/15.
Directions: Take Hwy 58 east from 99 in Bakersfield
to Tower Line Road, turn north to Edison Hwy (Bena Road) and turn right to
parking.
Stage One: Bena Individual Time Trial,
Friday May 15. First rider (Women 1/2/Pro) off at 1 pm, 30-second starts.
Fairly flat 10 mile total (5 out, 5 back) TT course, one short climb on the
return leg.
Stage Two: Walker Basin Road Race
Saturday May 16. First group (Women 1/2/Pro) starts at 9 a.m., all riders
start by 9:25. Loop is 7.5 miles of nearly flat roads in the Walker Basin,
that flat area halfway through the Paris-Loraine course of old (after big
climb and descent). East of Bakersfield , north of Caliente
Stage Three Havilah Hillclimb Saturday May
16. First group (Women 1/2/Pro) off at 3 p.m., all start by 3:12. 13 mile
mountain climb on the East side of Breckinridge Mtn. Net elevation gain
of about 2,700 feet. (Top at 6,200’) Fair pavement, narrow road, quiet route
on Breckenridge Road from Havilah Ranger Station to the top of the pavement on
Breckinridge.
Stage Four: Iron Mountain Road Race Sunday May 17: Woody
24-mile loop, (north of Bakersfield in the hills). Course is a
mountainous/rolling loop used in past for SoCal district Championships, &
used since 1998 in this stage race, but this year from the north end, in
Woody.

from April 1, 2009 to May 10, 2009 for above fees plus on-line surcharge. From
May 11-13 the fee on-line is $7 additional. No on-line entry after midnight
PST Wednesday May 13. You’ll need to sign and date your entry form/release
at race registration desk.
---By Mail: You may still enter by mail, but if a
group is filling, go on-line. By mail, send standard USCF/USAC entry
form/release along with fee above (if Postmarked by Friday May 8 to Velo
Promo/Kern, 19780 Soulsbyville Road, Soulsbyville, CA 95372. For those
postmarked after, add $7. Note: indicate what category you are entering on
check or form. Entries for several races in one envelope ok, but be sure to
list race names on the outside. Envelopes without names of races on the
outside may go to the wrong race.
---At Race: You may enter at the race, provided your
event is not filled, for the above listed fee plus $7.
2009 USCF license required (available at race). One day
licenses are available only for Women 4 . Entry fees include $1 NCNCA and $3
USCF insurance surcharges. Numbers will be provided.
Credits: Credit for another VP race will be
given if VP is notified by 5 pm Wednesday 5/13 that you can't compete. No
credit issued if you plan to enter another race instead; no cash refunds. No

Champion Discounts: Champions pay normal fees up
front; Current Southern Cal/Nevada District Road Race Champions and
National Road Champions will get a refund at the reg desk of all but $3 per
day if 1) their entry is received by the deadline above (otherwise they pay
full fee, including late fee) and 2) they ride in the category they won the
championship in (Master Champions may ride down in age, and ride for $3, and
Juniors may ride up. District jersey is not required
Rules/Notes: Neutral support volunteers needed;
riders should bring wheels. Neutral water will be available in feed zones
