A true timed stage race for 6 categories of Women
Registration: 11:30 a.m. -12:45 p.m.. at the TT start
location Friday 5/16.
Directions: Take Hwy 58 east from 99 in Bakersfield
to Tower Line Road, turn north to Edison Hwy (Bena Road) and turn right to
parking.
Stage One: Bena Individual Time Trial,
Friday May 16. First rider (Women 1/2/Pro) off at 1 pm, 30-second starts.
Fairly flat 10 mile total (5 out, 5 back) TT course, one short climb on the
return leg. Same as 2007
Stage Two: Walker Basin Road Race
Saturday May 17. First group (Women 1/2/Pro) starts at 9 a.m., all riders
start by 8:25. Loop is 7.5 miles of nearly flat roads in the Walker Basin,
that flat area halfway through the Paris-Loraine course of old (after big
climb and descent). Same as 2007. East of Bakersfield , north of Caliente
Stage Three Mt Breckinridge Hillclimb
Saturday May 17. First group (Women 1/2/Pro) off at 3 p.m., all start by
3:12. 13 mile mountain climb on the East side of Breckinridge Mtn.
Net elevation gain of about 2,700 feet. (Top at 6,200’) Fair pavement,
narrow road, quiet route on Breckenridge Road from downtown Havilah to
Lightner's Flat on Breckinridge (same as last year).
Stage Four: Iron Mountain Road Race Sunday May 18:
Woody 24-mile loop, (north of Bakersfield in the hills). Course is a
mountainous/rolling loop used in past for SoCal district Championships,
& used since 1998 in this stage race, but this year from the north end,
in Woody- not at Woody Community Center as in 2007, but at the Beard Ranch,
on Woody Granite Road (thus the start/finish is on the top of the mountain
this year).

---Enter On-line by clicking HERE from April 1,
2008 to Mayl 11, 2008 for above fees plus on-line surcharge. From May 11-May
13, the fee on-line is $7 additional. No on-line entry after May 13. You’ll
need to sign and date your entry form/release at race registration desk.
---By Mail: You may still enter by mail, but
if a group is filling, go on-line. By mail, send standard USCF/USAC entry
form/release along with fee above (if Postmarked by Friday May 9) to
Velo Promo/Kern, 19780 Soulsbyville Road, Soulsbyville, CA 95372. For those
postmarked after, add $7. Note: indicate what category you are
entering on check or form. Entries for several races in one
envelope ok, but be sure to list race names on the outside. Envelopes
without names of races on the outside may go to the wrong race.
---At Race: You may enter at the race,
provided your event is not filled, for the above listed fee plus $7.
2008 USCF license required (available at race). One
day licenses are available only for Cat 5 or Women 4 . Entry fees include $1
NCNCA and $2 USCF insurance surcharges. Numbers will be provided.
Credits: Credit for another VP race will be given
if VP is notified by 5 pm Wednesday 5/14 that you can't compete. No
credit issued if you plan to enter another race instead; no cash refunds. No

Champion Discounts: Champions pay normal fees up
front; Current SoCal/Nevada District Road Champions and National Road
Champions will get a refund at the reg desk of all but $2 per day if 1)
their entry is received by the deadline above (otherwise they pay full fee,
including late fee) and 2) they ride in the category they won the
championship in (Master Champions may ride down in age, and ride for $2, and
Juniors may ride up. District jersey is not required.
