ROAD RACE 2008

This race is held rain or shine; However, though it has not happened in 17 years, the Chief Ref can always make a cancellation decision race morning in regards to conditions and safety.

Date: Saturday January 26, 2008

Location: Patterson, Stanislaus County CA

Registration: Opens at 7:00 a.m. behind Best Western Vista Del Lago Inn outside of Patterson CA. Opens at 7 a.m. and closes at 8:00 for all. Park only on street, not in Inn parking lot. Same place as 2003-2007.

Directions: From Hwy 5 south of Tracy , take the Sperry Avenue (J-17) exit in Patterson. Head east on Sperry one block and north (left) at the signal at Rogers , then right on Speno to registration behind the Best Western Inn.

Course: 48 mile out & back race starting at the Inn and ending on Del Puerto Canyon road 1 1/2 miles west of Hwy 5. The entire race is on Sperry and Del Puerto Canyon, with the turn around 1 mile west of the Santa Clara County line. Del Puerto is one long (and steep near the top) climb and a short descent over the County line to the turn around, then back, finish is after a short climb. Some narrow roadways, a few sharp downhill turns on the return. Often rocks in roadway. Can be icy: pay attention to warning signs and shady areas. Foggy start area; usually clear up the canyon.

Cat. 1/2/Pro, Cat. 3, Cat. 4, Cat. 5, Women 1/2, Mast 35+ 1/2/3, Mast 35+ 4/5, , Women 3, Women 4, Junior 17-18, Mast 45+; Mast 45+ 4/5 in that order, with 5 minute gaps between groups.

Prizes: None

How to Enter: At race only. Entry fee is $15 for all, no late fee. 2008 USCF license needed (can apply at race). Entry fees include NCNCA and USCF insurance surcharges.

Champions: No discounts.

Rules: Follow vehicles only as permitted. (Volunteers to be neutral vehicles welcome!!)

Note: Very limited dirt/mud Parking allowed in the finish area, park all the way off the pavement.

Host Hotel: Best Western Vista Del Lago Inn, (209) 892-5300; ask for corporate rate for Velo Promo event. This is registration and start line location. Several restaurants and gas stations next door.
