Dates: Sundays, January 8,15,22,29 (training races/clinics) and Feb 12 (race) 2012
Location: Fremont, CA, same since 1988.

Registration: Opens at 7:45 a.m. at Dumbarton & Campus, Ardenwood Industrial Park. Closes 15 minutes before each race's start.
Directions: From Palo Alto, take Hwy 84 across the Dumbarton Bridge towards Fremont and take the first exit (Paseo Padre Parkway). Go north one block and turn right on Dumbarton Circle. From Hwy 880, take Hwy 84 west to the Paseo Padre/Thornton exit and go north (right) one block to Dumbarton Circle.

Course: 2.2km flat clockwise loop of good pavement. Three 90 degree right hand turns, one large sweeping turn. Race Loop: Dumbarton, Campus, Kaiser, Dumbarton. If riding this course before the loop is closed, please obey stop signs. Portapotties, botts dots, no drinking water. S/F on Dumbarton west of Campus.

(Saturday, January 7 - Mentor training @ the Early Bird course from 1pm to 3pm.  All new mentors must attend this meeting. Mentoring skills will be taught and practiced. Optional group ride following mentor training.)

Sunday, January 22 – “Meet the Teams Day” – racers not yet on a team will have the chance to talk to teams and consider what they have to offer (and want in return)  No cost, casual, pop up a tent, set up a table and enjoy the day.  Moved to January 29 if raining.  (Teams should check in prior to the Day with Robert at velopro1@sonnet.com to reserve a spot and get the details)

Notes: Jan 8, 15, 22, and 29 are training races only, with no placing recorded. We may split fields for safety reasons. You might get to practice racing in a neutralized field. Upgrade points are available for the Early Bird Criterium Mentoring sessions (5 to 4 and 4 to 3). 1-1/2 points for each clinic and training race, 3 for two weeks worth, 4-1/2 for 3 weeks worth, 6 upgrade points for all 4 weeks of mentoring and training races. 

Entry: Event fee is $15 each week.

How to Enter:

---via On-line at https://www.bikereg.com/events/?pid=4532 from now to The Wednesday before each event for $15 plus on-line surcharge. No late fees. No on-line entry after midnight PST Wednesday for each week’s event. You’ll need to sign and date your entry form/release at race registration desk.

---By Mail: You may still enter by mail.By mail, send standard USAC entry form/release along with $15 to Velo Promo/Early Bird Crit OR Notso Bird Crit, 19780 Soulsbyville Road, Soulsbyville, CA 95372. Note: indicate what category and which day(s) you are entering on check or form. Entries for several races in one envelope ok, but be sure to list event dates/names on the outside. Envelopes without names of races on the outside may go to the wrong race.

---At Race: You may enter at the events, provided your event is not filled, for $15, no late fee.

2012 USAC license required (available at race or online at www.USACycling.org ). One day licenses are available only for Cat 5, Master 5 or Women 4 . Entry fees include $1 NCNCA and $1 USAC insurance surcharges. Numbers will be provided.

Credits: Credit for another VP race will be given if VP is notified at Tech@BikeReg.com  by 5 pm PST the Wednesday before the event that you can't compete. No credit issued if you plan to enter another race instead; no cash refunds. No substitutions for cancellations. Send e-mail for credit to Tech@BikeReg.com 

Champion Discounts: Champions pay normal fees up front; Current NorCal/Nevada District Road Race Champions and National Road Champions will get a refund at the reg desk of all but $3 per day if 1) their entry is received by the deadline above (otherwise they pay full fee, including late fee) and 2) they ride in the category they won the championship in (Master Champions may ride down in age, and ride for $3, and Juniors may ride up. District jersey is not required

The fee covers any and all participation during the day. USAC Insurance and NCNCA surcharges are included. Allow yourself at least ½ hour for registration and preparation. One new USAC form each week. 2012 USAC license required, available at the races (2012 annual ($60) or one-day ($5). Annual is available on-line at www.usacycling.org –there you can print a receipt/authorization to ride to bring with you to the race. Race numbers will be provided.

Age Note: Your USAC racing age is the age you will be on December 31 of 2012.
