2009 Early Bird  Criterium 

Training Series

Dates: Sundays, January 4,11,18,25 and Feb 1
Location: Fremont, CA, same as past 20 years.
Registration: Opens at 8 a.m. at Dumbarton & Campus, Ardenwood Industrial Park. Closes 15 minutes before each race's start.
Directions:
From Palo Alto, take Hwy 84 across the Dumbarton Bridge towards Fremont and take the first exit (Paseo Padre Parkway). Go north one block to turn right on Dumbarton Circle. From Hwy 880, take Hwy 84 west to the same exit (Paseo Padre/Thornton) and go north (right) one block to Dumbarton Circle.

Course: 2.2km flat clockwise loop of good pavement. Three 90 degree right hand turns, one large sweeping turn. Portapotties, botts dots, no drinking water.

Noon Early Bird Criterium Mentoring Clinic*

   * Perfect for brand new racers, as well as those that want to work on fundamentals.

Notes: Jan 4, 11, 18, and 25 are training races only, no placings.

--Cat 5s can get two races of credit towards their upgrade to Cat 4 for each Early Bird session. (1 race credit for participating in one of the clinics and 1 for the race/race simulation). Attending all 5 Early Bird events and doing one clinic and the race/race simulation each week will qualify you for an upgrade to Cat 4.

--Cat 4 riders can get 1 upgrade point for attending the advanced Skills/tactics clinic each week up to a maximum of 5 upgrade points.

--Cat 3 riders can get 1 upgrade point for attending the advanced skills/tactics clinic up to a maximum of 3 upgrade points.

You will be racing for placings on February 1. We may split fields for safety reasons. Since the first four weeks are training races you might get to practice racing in a neutralized field.

 

Entry: Event fee is $16 each week. The fee covers any and all participation during the day. Insurance and NCNCA surcharges are included. Enter day of event only. One new USCF form each week. USCF 2009 annual ($60) or one-day ($5 at first four, $10 at Feb. 1 race) license required, available at the races (or annual is on-line at www.usac.org – be sure to print a receipt to bring to Early Birds). Race numbers will be provided. You can use the same number each week. No late fee. No unattached fee.
